Join us for an intimate, beginner-friendly workshop where you will learn our signature ceramic-painting process and create two hand-painted tiles of your own.
Our one-day introductory workshop is designed to enable you to independently paint any piece of ceramic after the workshop and is designed for anyone who curious to learn how ceramics are painted and fired.
No prior painting or ceramic experience required. All materials, firing, refreshments and delivery are included.

The workshop experience and what you'll learn:
1. Discover the medium
We begin by introducing you to overglaze ceramic colours, the tools we use and the way colours change through firing.
2. Learn the techniques
Through guided exercises, you will learn how to mix ceramic colours, transfer a design and use different brush and painting techniques on a glazed surface.
3. Plan your tiles
Choose a template from our curated tile design library and incorporate your own colours, details and the different techniques you have learnt to make the designs unmistakeably yours.
4. Paint at your own pace
Spend the rest of the morning painting your two tiles, with individual guidance whenever you need it.
After the workshop, we fire your tiles in our kiln so that the painted surface becomes permanent. Your finished pieces will be sent to you the following week.

Have you ever wondered how ceramics are painted—and why the colours do not simply wash or fade away?
Paints such as acrylics, watercolours, gouache and oils are not designed to become a permanent part of a glazed ceramic surface. Ceramic painting uses specialised colours and a firing process that fixes the artwork onto the piece.
During this workshop, you will learn the overglaze painting process we use at By Shibani: how ceramic colours are mixed, how a design is transferred and painted, and how firing transforms the finished work into something permanent and washable.
The workshop is not limited to the two tiles you paint with us. Past participants have used what they learnt to explore their own hand-painted tiles, tableware and other ceramic pieces—opening up a medium they can continue practising beyond the session.

Cancellation after 14th October: No refund or carry forward option will be provided. In case a participant is unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, the booking can be transferred to a friend or family member for the same batch. In case of a last minute cancellation or no-show, the participant will not be accommodated in future batches or be provided any material from the workshop.
